The 45% Commercial Solar Grant – How to Apply Without Missing a Step

Businesses weighing up solar have a significant incentive in front of them this autumn. SEAI lists an enhanced 45% rate under its Non-Domestic Microgen Grant, with the enhanced window running from 8 October 2026 to 6 July 2027, and a maximum grant of up to €325,200 for systems up to 1,000 kWp. Eligible applicants include businesses, farms, schools, community centres and other non-domestic sites. Terms can change, so always confirm the current details on the SEAI website.
The Steps in the Right Order
Choose a Registered Installer – The work must be carried out by a company on SEAI's register of non-domestic microgen installers.
Apply Online First – Your application is made before work begins, and you need a grant letter in hand before starting.
Grid Connection – Your installer applies to ESB Networks, and you should allow at least four weeks for this.
Install and Commission – The system is installed, tested and signed off.
Submit Documents for Payment – Allow roughly four to six weeks for processing after documents are submitted.
The most common mistake is starting work too early. Installing before you receive the grant letter can put your grant at risk.
